Microsoft Drops Kin Phone

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) has decided to stop producing the Kin phone just six weeks after its release, according to a report by Gizmodo Wednesday citing testimony from “sources close to Microsoft.” In Microsoft’s official statement the company said it will instead be focusing exclusively on the Windows Phone 7, and “will not be shipping KIN in Europe this fall as planned.” Still, Microsoft says it will be incorporating some of the Kin technology into future Windows Phone releases and will continue to sell existing Verizon-backed Kin phones that have already been made.
