The Washington Technology Industry Association is hosting an event where people can hear experts discuss how social media relates to business. According to the event website: “Social media is rapidly changing the way companies do business. Companies that have social media strategies are finding them to be a valuable tool for driving customer engagement and building brand loyalty; one that translates into real revenue and increased customer satisfaction. Companies that don’t are finding out the hard way that their customers are using services like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and FriendFeed to share their experiences – both good and bad — with specific brands.
At a minimum, companies need to be aware of what’s being said about them in the millions of online conversations that take place every day. Ideally, they should learn how to be an active participant in them. This panel will provide a practical overview of how companies can put social media to work for them.
