Qualcomm Buys iSkoot

San Diego’s Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) said today it has acquired San Francisco-based iSkoot Technologies, a mobile social networks software developer. Financial terms were not disclosed. In a statement, the wireless technologies giant said iSkoot works with mobile device makers and mobile operators to bring popular social networks and Internet services to mobile handsets in ways that maximize bandwidth efficiency. The startup was founded in 2005 and has reportedly raised $32 million in venture capital from investors Charles River Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Advanced Equities, ZG Ventures, and Michael Jesselson.
