Using SDSU Mapping to Help Disaster Relief Workers Navigate Chaos

Through a partnership with the U.S. Navy, researchers at San Diego State University’s Visualization Center used high-resolution imagery from Navy P-3 aircraft to provide mapping and web services to relief organizations following the January quake in Haiti. Similar mapping, visualization and data integration efforts are also underway for the Mexicali earthquake and Gulf oil spill, using a portion of the Google cloud.
