		<p>Palo Alto, CA-based <a href="http://www.revolutionanalytics.com">Revolution Analytic</a>s, which provides software and support to users of the open source R statistics language, has raised $8.62 million in a round of equity-based financing, according to a <a href="http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1423420/000142342010000003/xslFormDX01/primary_doc.xml">regulatory filing</a> this week. The investors were not disclosed. Formerly known as Revolution Computing and formerly based in New Haven, CT, and Seattle, the company <a href="http://www.xconomy.com/boston/2009/10/21/revolution-computing-raises-9m/">raised $9 million in venture financing</a> in October 2009 from North Bridge Venture Partners and Intel Capital.</p>

The startup, which provides software and support for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_%28programming_language%29">the statistical programming language known as “R,”</a> also announced the appointment of Norman Nie, a veteran of data mining software company SPSS, as CEO.</p>
