I’ve got several acquisitions to report this week, and some other interesting New England tech and life sciences deals as well.

—Mobile Monday Boston released figures indicating that the first quarter of 2009 was the best in the last five quarters in terms of investment in Boston-area mobile technology companies. Eleven companies raised a total of $215 million in the quarter—although $175 million of it came from a 17.4 million-share stock sale by Nuance Communications (NASDAQ: NUAN) of Burlington, MA.

—Atlas Venture of Waltham, MA, joined with Conshohocken, PA-based SR One, the venture arm of GlaxoSmithKline, to co-lead a €14.1 million ($18.4 million) Series B round of financing for Austrian startup ProtAffin. The funding will help support development and Phase I testing of ProtAffin’s lead drug, an anti-inflammatory.

—Waltham, MA-based Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO) agreed to pay about $120 million for NewZealand-based Biolab, a maker or analytical instruments, lab equipment, and research materials.

—Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ALNY) of Cambridge, MA, inked a deal to get access to single-stranded RNA interference (ssRNAi) technology developed by Carlsbad, CA-based Isis Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ISIS). Alnylam will pay up to $31 million in upfront fees and milestone payments, as well as royalties on any drugs that may be developed using the technology.

—Waltham, MA-based North Bridge Venture Partners was the main investor in a deal that added $5 million to the Series B round of Active Endpoints, a Waltham-based provider of systems that help enterprises and developers automate business processes.

—Waste management company Clean Harbors (NYSE: CLH) of Norwell, MA, agreed to acquire Edmonton, Alberta-based Eveready—a provider of maintenance, lodging, and exploration services for the oil and gas, chemicals, paper, manufacturing, and power generation businesses—for $387 million in cash, stock, and assumed debt.

—Burlington, MA-based Internet communications firm Acme Packet (NASDAQ:APKT) acquired Maynard, MA-based communications software firm Covergence for about $22.2 million in Acme common stock and $600,000 in cash.

Last week saw a steady stream of smallish and medium-sized deals for Greater Boston’s high-tech and life-sciences firms. The list includes many familiar faces:

—Inverness Medical Innovations (AMEX: IMA), a Waltham-based diagnostics maker, announced its planned $230 million acquisition of Upper Saddle River, NJ’s ParadigmHealth. Malorye profiled Inverness a couple of weeks ago.

—Voice-over-Internet device maker Covergence of Maynard, MA, raised $15 million in a Series D round from the likes of Highland Capital Partners, Globespan Capital Partners, and North Bridge Venture Partners.

—Acton, MA-based cargo-screening firm Passport Systems has closed some $7.4 million of an anticipated $10 million funding round led by angel investors and two local venture funds. Seth wrote about Passport back in September

—BIND Biosciences of Cambridge, MA, has completed a $16 million Series B financing round with Polaris Venture Partners, Flagship Ventures, ARCH Ventures, and NanoDimension. I wrote about BIND—one of the more interesting biotech startups out there right now—a few weeks back.

—Social networking site GuildCafe of Cambridge, MA, acquired Uberguilds for an undisclosed sum. Wade profiled GuildCafe in July.

—Microwave Device Technology, an aptly named provider of microwave and semiconductor products and components in Westford, MA, announced it will sell all of its assets for $7.8 million in cash to Irvine, CA-based Microsemi.

—Woburn, MA-based Wilson TurboPower, which is developing an efficient microturbine for onsite power generation, closed $4M in Series A funding, on top of an earlier Series A closing worth some $3 million.
