Dell, eBay, HP Use Microsoft Cloud

Gregory T. Huang7/12/10

Microsoft announced today that Dell, eBay, Fujitsu, and Hewlett-Packard have signed agreements to use the Redmond, WA, company’s Windows Azure software platform for cloud computing. Financial terms of the partnerships weren’t given, and the details and goals of each agreement are different. Dell, for example, is partnering with Azure to help deliver cloud-based services for its corporate customers, while eBay is using Azure to improve its own e-commerce platform and services. The announcements, made at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference, are significant because they are the first big splash made by customers of Microsoft’s long-awaited cloud platform.
