Well once again this is fascinating to know that a pill can slow down this awful process of macular degeneration. It seems so many people are affected by this condition. The elderly really suffer from this because when they cannot see they start to fall more and seriously injure themselves.

I am 29 and have been diagnosed with dry MD for about 10 years now. My condition has been progressing steadly and I all the sudden realized whats ahead. Since my condition is not age-relate, would I be able to participate in the trial? If not, can you suggest any facility in Seattle are that I can visit for monitoring my progression? I recently moved to Seattle.

I am a 50 year old women and love to read. I have also had the Gastric bypass about 9 years ago. I was diagnosed with moderate dry MD 2 years ago. I am wondering if my surgery could cause my eye problems and if my reading will make it worse?
Is there a Dr in the Tampa FL area that treats this with this?

It is exciting to see more clinical trials becoming available for those with dry macular degeneration. My father-in-law and all of his siblings have this retinal disease – which means my husband has a 50% chance of developing it as well.

Although we are working on diet and lifestyle measures to help prevent or delay this disease, it is great to know that new treatment options may be available in the near future.

Elaine—thanks for the comment. I have a link here to the clinical trial protocol. This current trial is only enrolling patients in Texas. As with any trial, you’d have your doctor to weigh the benefits and risks.

I was so excited to read about your company. I am a 64 yr old woman who was just diagnosed with moderate dry MD. I expected it as both my parent had the wet form. However, I have been devastated and did not expect to receive the diagnosis so soon as my parents did not notice vision loss until they were around 80. I live near Bothell and would like to volunteer for trial medications if that would help.
