Amazon Adapts App for Android

Eric Hal Schwartz 8/4/09

Amazon.com, the Seattle-based colossus of online retail, announced in a press release today that it has launched an application for Android, Google’s mobile operating system. The application allows users to shop on their Android smartphone, as well as take pictures or scan barcodes of products and search for them on Amazon’s website. Taking a photo and matching it with a product was the main technology acquired by Amazon when it purchased Palo Alto, CA-based Snaptell last month.
