Wetpaint Teams Up With MSN

Gregory T. Huang 4/30/09

Seattle social-publishing startup Wetpaint announced it has formed a partnership with MSN Entertainment, a leading online network, to create more than two dozen fan sites that will start rolling out this quarter. Financial terms of the deal were not given. MSN Entertainment will use Wetpaint’s software to power social sites where fans can write content, share interests, and meet one another.

I have been making heavy use of Wetpaint for educational purposes for the past year, and the results have been extremely encouraging in terms of fostering a strong feeling of online community. I was wondering what partnership between MSN Entertainment and Wetpaint might produce, especially with regards to facilitating interaction (including chat) among student users of Wetpaint. Also, would there be ways for users to upload audio and video content directly to Wetpaint, rather than appending it to Facebook as is the case now. This sounds like a very exciting combination. Thanks.
