Gregory T. Huang3/30/09

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) announced today it is shutting down MSN Encarta, its online encyclopedia, as of October 31, 2009. The news was first reported by Ars Technica. Microsoft says, “The category of traditional encyclopedias and reference material has changed”—which seems to refer to online sites like Wikipedia and Google—and that the company will “develop future technology solutions” to give people better access to information.
