<description>This is a disappointing article in that it mentions Merck several times, yet fails to acknowledge the inventor of the vaccine and the company that developed it.

Readers may be interested to know that Gardasil was invented by Prof. Ian Frazer at the University of Queensland and was developed by an Australian company (CSL).

To recognize this great achievement, Prof. Frazer was named Australian of the Year in 2006. While it may be suitable for some young scientists to consider careers at Merck, others may want to become the next Ian Frazers, and work in a University.

And now, that the repugnant, Republican-led War on Science is about to be ended by President Obama, maybe American scientists will soon be able to get the same recognition that scientists all over the world get.
