The Washington Technology Center, a state-supported economic development organization, said today it has awarded $512,000 to seven projects between university researchers and companies. The grant winners include Ekos, a Bothell, WA-based medical device company working with University of Washington engineers to improve a catheter-based drug-delivery system, and Healionics, a biomaterials startup in Redmond, WA, working with UW researchers to reduce infections from catheters. This funding is expected to generate more than 160 full-time technology jobs in Washington during the next five years, the agency said.
