Zango to Jettison a Third of Staff

Wade Roush6/18/08

Zango, the Bellevue, WA-based adware maker that has also been known at various times as ePIPO, 180solutions, and Hotbar, plans to lay off 68 employees, or about one-third of its staff, according to reports in Online Media Daily and other publications.  Frequently criticized for distributing software that causes unwanted pop-up ads to appear on PC users’ desktops, Zango is refocusing its business on a toolbar-driven casual gaming system called Platrium, and the layoffs are a result of that shift, Zango spokesman Steve Stratz said.
