Kixeye Scores $18M

Kixeye, the San Francisco game studio behind the Facebook games Backyard Monster and Battle Pirates, said it has raised $18 million in a Series C financing round. Jafco Ventures was in the lead, and was joined by existing investors Trinity Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Jafco managing general partner Joe Horowitz has joined Kixeye’s board, as has Andrew Trader, a former Zynga executive now with venture firm Maveron. In a statement, Horowitz called Kixeye a “hits factory” with a “highly sophisticated monetization model.”
