Facebook Buys Sun Campus

2/8/11

In a news conference in Menlo Park, CA, covered by Forbes, TechCrunch, and other outlets, Facebook confirmed today that it has purchased the former Sun Microsystems campus on the Bayfront Expressway in Menlo Park. The social networking juggernaut plans to move its headquarters to the 11-building complex beginning this summer. To provide room for expansion, Facebook has also purchased an adjacent property formerly owned by General Motors. Facebook’s 2,000-odd employees have long been crammed into leased space on Page Mill Road and South California Avenue in Palo Alto.
