Offerpal Becomes Tapjoy

10/7/10

Fremont, CA-based Offerpal Media, which provides virtual currency platforms for online games, virtual worlds, and social networks, announced yesterday that it is adopting the name of the startup it acquired in March, Tapjoy, and moving its headquarters to San Francisco. Tapjoy was known before the acquisition for its pay-per-install service for distributing apps to mobile devices such as iPhones and Android phones, and that service has become one of the combined companies’ main businesses. Offerpal has collected $20 million in venture funding form  InterWest Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners, and D.E. Shaw.
