8. Google Earth – The Google Earth app for the iPhone always worked on the iPad, but I was thrilled last week to learn that Google had updated the app with a revamped interface designed to take advantage of the iPad’s big screen. This is simply a stunning app, with mind-blowing 3D topography and blazing fast rendering. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that if a GPS device maker had come out with an iPad-like device a few years ago, and Google Earth was the only app that ran on it, map geeks like myself would still have paid $499 or more for it.

    wow…huge list
I think Apple iPad is the ultimate consumer device and there are some great applications that can make it even better. Sketchbook, Evernote or the Math apps are really amazing.
This is the future of cloud computing,of portable devices with an interactive interface, high res visuals.
There is also a nice selection of the best free ipad games with some interesting choices that might come handy..
And the battery life, 10+ hour is just awesome.

Thanks for the list. It would be helpful to have a link to the place I can go to download the app. Have to keep leaving your site and searching on Google… or guessing at the web address of the app. Please just add the hyperlink to these things. thanks

Thanks for the list of apps. I just got an ipad, yesterday, and I am looking forward to using it. Although I am not a big fan of AT&T (The carrier used by the IPAD.), I do like their conceptof a no contract data plan. This would be of use when out of range of WiFi signal. With the advent of cloud computing, I do feel the IPAD and others of its ilk are the future of computing. Thanks again for your list.
