26. WordPress – WordPress is the content management system used by thousands of online publications, including Xconomy. Like the iPhone version, the WordPress app for the iPad allows access to the system’s story management tools, but it’s not really enough to run a highly templated site like ours. I’m looking forward to the day when the good folks at Automattic in San Francisco come up with an iPad app that has all the features of the Web version. Until then, I’ll be forced to carry around both a laptop and an iPad.

    I think Apple iPad is the ultimate consumer device and there are some great applications that can make it even better. Sketchbook, Evernote or the Math apps are really amazing.
    This is the future of cloud computing,of portable devices with an interactive interface, high res visuals.
    There is also a nice selection of the best free ipad games with some interesting choices that might come handy..
    And the battery life, 10+ hour is just awesome.

    Thanks for the list. It would be helpful to have a link to the place I can go to download the app. Have to keep leaving your site and searching on Google… or guessing at the web address of the app. Please just add the hyperlink to these things. thanks

    Thanks for the list of apps. I just got an ipad, yesterday, and I am looking forward to using it. Although I am not a big fan of AT&T (The carrier used by the IPAD.), I do like their conceptof a no contract data plan. This would be of use when out of range of WiFi signal. With the advent of cloud computing, I do feel the IPAD and others of its ilk are the future of computing. Thanks again for your list.
