17. New York Times Editor’s Choice – Years ago I subscribed to the dead-tree edition of the New York Times. Later I started buying the Sunday editions for my Kindle. Now I don’t have to pay the Times a cent—most of the important news stories come every day in this advertising-supported app, which faithfully recreates the look of the Times, right down to the font. Thanks to a recent update, the news, business, and technology coverage is now supplemented by arts and videos.

    I think Apple iPad is the ultimate consumer device and there are some great applications that can make it even better. Sketchbook, Evernote or the Math apps are really amazing.
    This is the future of cloud computing,of portable devices with an interactive interface, high res visuals.
    There is also a nice selection of the best free ipad games with some interesting choices that might come handy..
    And the battery life, 10+ hour is just awesome.

    Thanks for the list. It would be helpful to have a link to the place I can go to download the app. Have to keep leaving your site and searching on Google… or guessing at the web address of the app. Please just add the hyperlink to these things. thanks

    Thanks for the list of apps. I just got an ipad, yesterday, and I am looking forward to using it. Although I am not a big fan of AT&T (The carrier used by the IPAD.), I do like their conceptof a no contract data plan. This would be of use when out of range of WiFi signal. With the advent of cloud computing, I do feel the IPAD and others of its ilk are the future of computing. Thanks again for your list.
