Alibaba Buys Vendio Services

Bruce V. Bigelow6/24/10

Alibaba.com, the Hong Kong-based e-commerce giant for small business, is acquiring San Mateo, CA-based Vendio Services, a move that will help the Chinese eBay rival secure a U.S. foothold as it raises the profile of its Internet business here. Financial terms were not disclosed. Vendio operates as a multi-channel e-commerce company that provides merchants and small businesses a platform for selling across multiple channels. By using Vendio’s online platform, merchants can source products from Alibaba.com’s network of suppliers in China and sell through eBay, Amazon, and their Vendio-supported online store.
