San Diego’s ResMed (NYSE: RMD) says founder and executive chairman Peter Farrell is returning as CEO following the surprise resignation of Kieran  Gallahue, who left to become the chairman and CEO of San Diego-based CareFusion (NYSE: [[tickerCFN]]). Farrell, who also will continue to serve as the board’s executive chairman, founded ResMed in 1989 and served as chief executive from 1990 to 2007. ResMed developed a system that provides continuous positive air pressure to help people with sleep apnea. “As executive chairman, I remained closely involved with ResMed’s strategy, so stepping back into the CEO role will not be a novelty for me and will ensure continuity for the team,” Farrell said in the statement.
