Idealab Solar Startup Moves to SD

Bruce V. Bigelow7/12/10

Energy Innovations, a renewable energy startup incubated and funded by Pasadena, CA-based Idealab, has moved its corporate headquarters, design center, and global manufacturing center to the suburban San Diego community of Poway, CA. Energy Innovations uses proprietary technology to concentrate the sun’s energy 1,200 times in solar panels that double the efficiency of current photovoltaic technology. The startup, which also has venture funding from Silicon Valley’s Mohr Davidow Ventures, named Joseph Budano, the former president of San Diego-based Xantrex Technologies, as CEO in March 2009.
