Despite the fact that online crime is economically motivated, the underlying economics are poorly understood and even more poorly quantified. UCSD computer security expert Stefan Savage says that makes computer security efforts inherently unfocused. San Diego Connect has organized this presentation by Savage, who is director of the Cooperative Center for Internet Epidemiology and Defenses (CCIED), a joint effort between UCSD and the International Computer Science Institute.
