The San Diego News Network, which operates a website that provides news and information about the San Diego community, says it has raised $707,220 out of a planned $2 million in early stage funding, according to a recent regulatory filing. The online startup, which launched operations about five months ago, counts former San Diego Union-Tribune online executive Chris Jennewein as a top executive. A profile of the venture by Forbes.com says SDNN employs 16 full-time staffers, as well as 23 freelance writers and 12 bloggers.
