Pyron Solar Acquired
Bruce V. Bigelow 6/30/09
Ellis Energy Investments of Bakersfield, CA, says it has acquired the assets of San Diego-based Pyron Solar, a venture-backed company developing high-energy concentrating photovoltaic cells for utility scale solar projects. Ellis did not disclose financial terms. Pyron was founded in 2004 by Johannes “John” and Inge Laing, who spent 20 years developing the technology. Pyron closed its first round of financing in 2007 with NEI, New Energies Invest, a renewable energy fund established by the Sarasin Bank in Basel, Switzerland.
