Burnham Gets $10M Donation

Bruce V. Bigelow 1/30/09

Conrad Prebys, a San Diego real estate investor and philanthropist, is giving $10 million to the Burnham Institute for Medical Research to support Burnham’s drug discovery center. After getting a $98 million grant in September from the National Institutes of Health, Burnham’s renamed Conrad Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics has become part of the largest public drug discovery effort in the world. The NIH awarded the grant to establish the Burnham as one of four comprehensive screening centers that will be part of the NIH Molecular Libraries Probe Production Centers Network.
