Appeals Court Gives Qualcomm a Repreive

Bruce V. Bigelow10/15/08

Qualcomm says the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington D.C. has vacated a finding by the International Trade Commission that the San Diego wireless company induced other companies to infringe a Broadcom patent that helps reduce power consumption. The case is among several patent disputes between the two companies. A San Diego Union-Tribune report on the ruling says a 2006 U.S. Supreme Court decision has changed the standard for determining if patent infringement was induced.
