Wanted: Star Journalist to Help Launch Xconomy in the Lone Star State
It’s no secret that we’re on a little bit of an expansion bender these days (hey there, Boulder/Denver), and our next hit is going to be a big one: Xconomy Texas.
With the combination of Houston’s first-class research hospitals and growing life sciences sector, Austin’s vibrant tech scene, and the state’s massive energy sector we think there’s a lot of ground to cover, and we’ll need a journalist with Texas-sized talent to help us pull it off.
So here’s what’s become our mantra as we’ve grown the Xconomy team: The ideal candidate will be a resourceful reporter, fearless interviewer, and swift writer with business news experience, the confidence to tackle diverse topics across tech and life sciences, and the chops to produce breaking news stories and longer features and profiles on a daily schedule. The ability to work independently (but in close coordination with a world-class team) is key, a sense of humor is nonnegotiable, and experience with Web publishing tools and social media definitely won’t hurt. And because it’s Texas we’re adding bonus points for a really good impression of Coach or Tami Taylor.
If this sounds like you, write us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tell us about yourself, your experience covering Texas, life sciences, energy, and/or high tech, and why you think you’d be a great fit with Xconomy. Please don’t forget to include a resume and clips. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
