6. Real Racing HD — Firemint, $9.99 — Most iPad games that attempt to mimic console games fall flat, in my opinion. Real Racing HD is an exception. The iPad’s processor is fast enough to render the game’s many racecars and track environments in stunning detail, and the device’s built-in accelerometer means you can simply tilt the device to steer. I haven’t tried competing racing games such as EA’s “Need for Speed” series, but Real Racing is a blast (and my three-year-old nephew loves it).
