| Maxton Men — This startup can be seen as an anomaly, with its San Francisco location and focus on men’s accessories (yes, you read that right). Founder Kishan Madamala (HBS ’10) managed a Target store in Los Angeles before business school and returned to the retailer’s e-commerce group after graduating. He founded Maxton Men to go beyond the “search it, find it, buy it” mentality that he says dominates most e-commerce sites with hundreds of thousands of products. The startup is building a back end platform that allows it to power pop-up men’s e-commerce sites, with an eye toward product curation and discovery. Another fellow San Francisco HBS fashion tech startup is Stitch Fix. | |
