Pops Back as Alkermes’ CEO

Ryan McBride9/11/09

Cambridge, MA-based biotech firm Alkermes (NASDAQ:ALKS) said this morning that its chairman and former CEO Richard Pops is resuming the role of president and chief executive of the company. Pops, 47, was previously CEO of Alkermes between 1991 and April 2007. He replaces David Broeker, who has resigned from the CEO job and his seat on the company’s board of directors. Pops is remaining chairman of the board and taking over as CEO immediately, according to the company. Xconomy spoke to Pops in January 2009 about Alkermes’ future and business strategy. A spokeswoman for Alkermes was not immediately available to comment on the CEO change this morning.
