Microsoft Makes Second Round of Cuts

Gregory T. Huang 5/5/09

Microsoft is implementing the rest of its plan to cut 5,000 positions, as originally announced in January. That’s according to numerous media reports and a Microsoft statement. The company hasn’t said how many jobs are being cut locally, but The Seattle Times reports 1,200 workers will be affected in Washington state. The news comes on the heels of Microsoft posting a decline in quarterly revenue for the first time in its history as a public company.
