Cognex Cuts 85 Staff

Wade Roush 4/21/09

Cognex, a Natick, MA-based company that makes machine-vision sensors and systems for industrial automation, announced cost-cutting measures today that will include executive pay cuts and the elimination of 85 employees and contractors. “Unfortunately, conditions have deteriorated beyond what we had anticipated last fall, and because we currently see no sign of improvement in the near term, we are taking the additional steps announced today to more closely align our costs with the decreased level of demand for our products,” CEO Robert Shillman said in an announcement. We’ve updated the Boston Tech Layoff Tracker accordingly.
