Ex-Wyeth Exec Named Sirtris Pres.

Sirtris, a Cambridge, MA, unit of London-based drug giant GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE:GSK), says that George Vlasuk has been named president and head of Sirtris. Vlasuk, who was previously vice president of metabolic and hemophilia in the pharmaceutical division of Madison, NJ-based Wyeth (NYSE:WYE), will report to Sirtris CEO Christoph Westphal. Vlasuk will be based in Cambridge and be responsible for all research, development, and operations at Sirtris, which is developing treatments for diseases of aging such as Type 2 diabetes.
