Zoll Medical to Buy Alsius for $12M

Zoll Medical (NASDAQ:ZOLL), a Chelmsford, MA-based provider of devices and products for the critical care market, has agreed to acquire the assets of medical devices firm Alsius for $12 million in cash, according to a press release. Irvine, CA-based Alsius (NASDAQ:ALUS) makes products that control body temperature to, for example, induce hypothermia in stroke victims to limit brain damage. The deal is pending approval by Alsius shareholders, according to Zoll.
