Wade Roush1/26/09

Chelmsford, MA-based Brooks Automation (NASDAQ: BRKS), which makes robotic equipment used in the manufacturing of semiconductors, storage media, and flat panel displays, said today that a restructuring plan initiated as a response to deteriorating sales resulted in about 200 layoffs in the final quarter of 2008, and will lead to another 350 layoffs in the coming months. Combined, the two rounds of layoffs will shrinkg the company’s global head count by about 30 percent. We’ve updated the Boston Tech Layoff Tracker with these latest figures.
