Waltham, MA-based Charles River Ventures is the lead investor in a $9 million Series B financing round for Scribd, a San Francisco startup and Y Combinator graduate whose “iPaper” document reader allows users to upload documents such as Word, PDF, and PowerPoint files to the Internet and share them by embedding them in Web pages. In its announcement today about the Series B round (which also included Redpoint Ventures and Kinsey Hills Group), Scribd said it has hired former Bebo COO George Consagra as its new president.
