Wade Roush2/19/08

The Advanced Technology Manufacturing Center at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, will be home to a new Marine Renewable Energy Consortium aimed at organizing a network of technologists, entrepreneurs, and investors around ocean wave, tidal, current, and wind energy projects, according to an announcement circulated by the center. The long-term mission of the consortium will be “to monitor and characterize the industry’s changing needs, to carry out activities to achieve the funding that is required to enable the industry’s growth and to support the implementation of projects,” including the the establishment of a “National Marine Renewable Energy Research, Development and Demonstration Center,” according to the announcement. A formal unveiling of the consortium will take place at the February 28 meeting of the Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum, to be held at the ATMC in Fall River.
