Give a Laptop, Get a Laptop

Wade Roush 11/12/07

The Cambridge, MA-based One Laptop Per Child Foundation kicked off its long-anticipated “Give One, Get One” program today. From November 12 through November 26, consumers in the United States and Canada can buy an XO laptop for a child in a developing nation for $399 and also receive one XO laptop to be “sent to a child in your life” (though we imagine that quite a few buyers will be sending the cool-looking, green-eared gadgets directly to themselves). As an added bonus, T-Mobile will provide buyers with a year of free Wi-Fi access at T-Mobile HotSpots. The Foundation recruited Masi Oka, the lovably geeky star of NBC’s Heroes, to make a commercial advertising the program.
