EMC to Invest $1 Billion in China

Hopkinton, MA’s EMC (NYSE: EMC) announced today that it is doubling its planned investments in China, to a total of some $1 billion over the next five years. The storage giant said the funds will go toward “expanding [its] R&D operations, growing its partner community, strengthening its sales and service capabilities and more effectively serving the rapidly growing Chinese market.” The firm also officially opened its new R&D center in Beijing, bringing its total number of employees in the Asia Pacific and Japan region to 4,700.
