Xconomy Correspondent to Keynote Life 2.0 Summit in Second Life

09/17/07
12:00 pm EDT, 9:00 am Second Life Time
Dr. Dobbs Island, Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com)

Xconomy chief correspondent Wade Roush will give the opening keynote talk for this week’s Life 2.0 Summit inside the virtual world Second Life. Produced by CMP Technology/Dr. Dobb’s Journal, Life 2.0 is a quarterly virtual conference on metaverse technology and best-practice for software developers and business stakeholders seeking to understand and use Second Life and other metaverse environments for customer engagement, commerce, collaboration, education, simulation and research. Roush will talk about his experiences writing “Second Earth,” the July-August cover story for MIT’s Technology Review. The story examined how something resembling the “Metaverse” of cyberpunk fiction might emerge from the growing overlap between social virtual worlds such as Second Life and map worlds or “geoverses” such as Google Earth and Microsoft Virtual Earth. Wade Roush is Xconomy's chief correspondent and editor of Xconomy San Francisco. You can e-mail him at wroush@xconomy.com or follow him on Twitter at twitter.com/wroush.
