Formerly, as the Director of Venture Capital Initiatives for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Mahendra developed strategies for the growth of the venture capital supply chain in Michigan. He led the legislation and development of the two programs

which deploy $200+ million in Michigan as well as MEDC’s investment in four new seed-stage venture funds.

Mahendra is the author of “The Business of Venture Capital.” Published by John Wiley and Sons, this book that covers the spectrum of venture capital fund raising, investments, and exit strategies. Paul Maeder, Chairman, National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) describes this book as “If you read only one guide to becoming a successful VC, this is the one to read."

Mahendra 's background includes a Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering and an MBA with a major in Marketing & Finance. He led the formation of an orphanage in India in 2005. He lives with his wife, Deepa, and daughter, Aria, in Ann Arbor, MI.
