Mark just helped found a Somerville-based stealth cleantech start-up which recently spun out of Harvard. He is the former managing director and co-founder of Bang Ventures, an investment firm based in New York with offices which focused on early stage technology investments.
Mark is a seasoned technology entrepreneur, executive, investor and visionary. He co-founded New Europe Ventures, a Polish-based venture capital firm, as well as the Benet Group (acquired by Arrowhead Research Corp), Leonardo BioSystems (acquired), Lux Research and the NanoBusiness Alliance. He has served as a senior executive at NanoDynamics and lead efforts to create Epik Energy, a start-up created jointly with Shell focusing on more environmentally sound E&P applications and materials. He also served in senior executive roles at Opion (acquired), GolinHarris and NRW. In addition, he has consulted for companies ranging from NanoSys to Engelhard, Mastercard, Yahoo, eSpeed, Pixar, and DaimlerChrysler.
Mark is a noted technology commentator regularly appearing on CNBC, Fox and writing the Hub 2.0 blog for the Boston Herald. Before entering the private sector, Mark was an appointee in the Clinton Administration developing technology and economic development policy, legal and communication strategy efforts as Special Assistant to HUD Secretary Cisneros and USDA Secretary Glickman. He is a graduate of the University of Denver College of Law and Boston University.
