Mark Bakken

Mark Bakken is the founder and managing partner of HealthX Ventures, a venture fund investing in Madison, WI-based healthcare IT startups. He is an experienced IT executive and seasoned entrepreneur who founded Nordic Consulting, the industry leader in providing electronic health record (EHR) consulting services to healthcare organizations using Epic software. Mark served as Nordic's CEO from 2010 to 2014. Nordic has been ranked #1 in KLAS for Epic implementation since 2012 and has over 400 consultants working with some of the largest healthcare organizations in 44 states. In 2014, Nordic was ranked the 46th-fastest growing company in the United States.

Prior to founding Nordic, Mark started, grew and sold two companies. He was co-founder and CEO of Goliath Networks, a $25 million per year Novell and Microsoft enterprise-focused infrastructure consulting services firm that Inc. Magazine ranked 97th of the 500 fastest growing companies in the U.S., from 1993-2001. He was also co-founder and CEO of Bedrock Managed Services & Consulting, a $5 million per year Microsoft subscription-based infrastructure-focused managed services company that worked with small and medium-sized business from 2004-2008. While at Goliath and Bedrock, Mark worked with Eric Schmidt on Novell's Partner Advisory council from 1999-2003. Mark also was asked by Bill Gates to serve on Microsoft's very first partner Advisory Council, which he ended up participating on from 2001-2007.

Mark currently serves on the board of directors of Nordic Consulting and Catalyze.IO. He is also a board member with the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Technology Council. He has a B.S. in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
