Jason Pyle serves as the chief executive of Sapphire Energy, which he helped launch in May 2007. Sapphire’s goal is to be the world’s leading producer of renewable petrochemical products. He is a scientist by training but an entrepreneur at heart. Prior to forming Sapphire, Pyle served as Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of Epoc, Inc., a privately held medical engineering company. He was also the co-founder and chief technical officer of Pria Diagnostics, where he was named Innovator of the Year in 2006 by Frost and Sullivan. He holds an appointment as adjunct professor of bioengineering at Vanderbilt University, a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Physiology, and a M.D. from Stanford University. He received degrees in optical engineering and physics from the University of Arizona.
