Jim Deters is the co-founder, managing director, and CEO of Galvanize, a Denver-based co-working space for startups that also hosts community events and offers programming classes. Prior to launching Galvanize, Jim co-founded Ascendant Technology, an Austin, TX-based consulting firm with operations around the world.
Jim was Ascendant’s president as the company grew annual revenue to $90 million per year. Ascendant Technology was bought by Avnet in 2012. Prior to Ascendant Technology, he founded Portal Interactive, Inc.
Jim’s interests extend beyond the tech business, and in 2010 he, his wife, Alicia, and chef Lon Symensma founded Cholon Bistro in downtown Denver.
Jim is a business graduate from DePaul University in Chicago with degrees in Economics and Business Management, with a specialty in Entrepreneurship.
