David R. Walt is the Robinson Professor of Chemistry at Tufts University, and a co-founder, director, and chairman of the scientific advisory board of San Diego-based Illumina. He has been a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor since September 2006. Walt is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Walt has published over 200 papers and is named as an inventor or co-inventor of over 40 patents. He also serves as a board member for Quanterix. Walt holds a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Michigan and received his Ph.D. in chemical biology from SUNY at Stony Brook.
